The Southern Nevada Operating and Maintenance Engineers Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund is a multi-employer trust existing for Apprentices and Journeypersons employed by participating employers in Southern Nevada, in accordance with the Apprenticeship Laws of the State of Nevada and the Department of Labor. The Fund operates the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center (JATC), which is located across from the Local 501 Las Vegas union hall.
The JATC program offers benefits to both our members, as well as for employers.
For members, the Local 501 Las Vegas Training Center has entered into a partnership with the College of Southern Nevada by which Apprentices and Journey persons can earn college credit for most classes taken at the training center. In addition to acquiring accredited knowledge and skills, Local 501 members can also earn cash bonuses for licenses at the training center, based on some Strip contracts. And THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR MEMBERS TO ATTEND CLASSES AT THE TRAINING CENTER. Contributing employers make an annual payment to the Training Trust on behalf of each member.
For management, the training program develops highly-skilled workers. The program targets energy savings as a key component of training, focusing on areas that can better manage energy and reduce operating costs.
